Chrissi started writing "ONE IN FIVE !" in 2020 when she was 19 and just beginning to understand what adult life actually demands. She has said the first verse came out of sessions with collaborators Freemonk and Billy Ebanks, who gave her the space to work through something that was genuinely scary at the time. Five years passed before the song came out, and you can feel that gap in the way it sits: fully formed, deliberate, not the work of someone rushing to release. The track is built on live instrumentation with a jazz and soul foundation, and it leans on that warmth deliberately. There is a kind of grounded sadness in the melody that the production earns. Chrissi has a voice that sells understatement, which is harder than it looks. She does not oversing this. She lets it land. Songs that take years to complete are sometimes better for it. "ONE IN FIVE !" feels like it needed that time. We are glad she held onto it.
