Roy Woods is from Brampton, Ontario, signed to Drake's OVO Sound label, and has been one of the label's more quietly consistent artists since he broke through with "Get You Good" in 2015. His voice occupies a specific space in the OVO universe: not as hard-edged as some of the rap acts, not as overtly pop as others, but R&B-inflected with a melodic intuition that suits the label's overall aesthetic. "Like You" arrived in April 2025 as part of the Dark Nights campaign and does what his best work has always done: simple production, a hook that earns its place by arriving at exactly the right moment, and an emotional directness that does not feel performed. He has not changed who he is over the decade-plus of his career. He has just gotten more precise at executing it. OVO has always bet on artists who understand restraint as a skill. Roy Woods is one of those bets that has consistently paid off.
