Joe Boston, who records as Shallou, is a Los Angeles-based producer, singer, and environmentalist who has been building a catalog of ambient and downtempo electronic pop since around 2016. His music sits in the space that late-night listeners find: not quiet enough to be ambient strictly speaking, not loud enough to be dance music, just something that moves at the pace of thought. "Think About" is from his 2025 album 25, spring , a project that arrived in June and continued his practice of releasing music seasonally and with real intention about when it should be heard. Boston has said he thinks of his music as environmental, both in the ecological sense (he is publicly committed to climate work) and in the architectural sense: sounds that build a space rather than occupy one. "Think About" fits that philosophy. The production is clean and layered without being busy, and the emotion in the track comes from what the arrangement holds back as much as what it pushes forward. He has built a following of several million Spotify listeners without a major label infrastructure, which says something about what happens when the music is genuinely well-matched to the people who need it.
